My five minutes of high school

Liz and I have begun to look at new apartments and today I went and looked at one on SW 16th and Salmon. I hadn't realized until I got there that it was right next to a high school. Class must have been getting out as I stood there waiting for Angus (No joke - that was his name). Students trickled by gabbering on about their crushes, detention duties and parents catching them with booze. After about five minutes I wanted to run away screaming. I'm very glad to be done with high school.

The apartment was also a flop. We climbed into the original 1902 elevator and it wouldn't go up because Angus was too large. (And he had one wonky eye.) The inside was historic and magical, but in a falling apart and might collapse at any moment sort of way. I imaged that if I were a 1920's private detective I would want to set up shop there.

This is for yesterday.
I went to the doc today and got a bunch of free cough drops, Tylenol/Ibuprofin/Advil.
This is all my medicine + NyQuil, Aspirin, salt water, hydrogen peroxide, vitamins, and throat spray.
Turns out I have a virus and have to wait it out..

The bottom picture is from yesterday. I was driving around when I stumbled upon this theater that I used to work in. I never knew where it was because I used to just carpool there. (Don't ask, it was a weird job.) The top is from today when some friends came over to play a fierce game of UNO.

Portland is oh-so beautiful.

I'm a Crest kid

On the right is my old toothbrush. It was sacrificed to the kitty litter gods by my unsuspecting roommate. On the left is my new toothbrush, which fortunately came with a cap.

(This post was for yesterday, oops.)

Ugh.
I think I have the flu.
This is not a good time.

A little red in the top left corner.
I think it makes the picture.

It's been fun. Keep it real.

I got accepted into Portland State today. Good-bye art school.

"Three Groins in a Fountain"

I looked everywhere to find the name of this work of art. In fact now it is sort of bothering me. If anyone knows, e-mail me.

I left my camera at Jessi's and didn't get it back until tonight.

Sending a little sunshine...

I have been feeling a little down. My mother died ten years ago this day so I wasn't really looking forward to it. Lucky for me I have some great friends who left flowers and candy for me on the kitchen table. Thanks Liz and Mary, you guys really cheered me up. (And everyone else who gave me a call, thank you.)

If you've got some spare time or change head over to The National Breast Cancer Foundation where they have a wealth of information on ways to prevent it from happening to you or a loved one. They also have a number of ways to contribute donations to aid research in finding a cure.

I woke up this morning to the Virginia news.
It was intense.
I took this picture for the poor girl who stormed out of our classroom crying.
Because our professor interrupted her presentation about a reading on Nature
for the high pitched noise no one but me has heard up until this day.

My thoughts are with you, Virginia

Galletas de chocolate.
I had a small tragedy yesterday.
I forgot my card for my camera in my computer.
And the port that connects my camera was MIA.
But I got it now.
Sorry for the delay.

Yom HaShoah

I often walk past this synagogue in my neighborhood. Today the sidewalks were crowded with those going to observe Yom HaShoah. (The national memorial day in Israel for those who perished during the Holocaust.)

I forgot to upload a picture last night.
Sorry!
This is Erin at Jessi's birthday party.

Salt Lake City, Utah

The first is taken today from Lagoon. I'm sunburned and roller coasters are awesome.

The second is from yesterday. Zach is in the Air Force and they are given these coins for one reason or another. I believe it has to do with the squadron they serve in or other operations they take part in. In any case, I thought it was ironic that the United States government issues these in Korean made cases.

The third picture was from the first day in Utah. Its things like this that remind why the state is so funny.

Thank you to the amazing Pingree family for having me for the weekend. I miss you all.

And just because I can, here are pictures of my adorable nieces who I got to see (along with awesome sister). Let's say it together: Aww!

I never do anything interesting.
But I did get up a little early to eat breakfast.
I never eat breakfast.
Note: This is not breakfast.

Salinger was the first to sprout

It would have been sick day number three, but you know how the work thing goes. Thanks for all the well wishes. I thought I would update today with something other then my feline friend, so here is my other project. Refer to my previous post if you don't know what I'm talking about. So far, kinda good. They are sort of wishy washy as to whether they want to be healthy or not. I guess I didn't inherit a green thumb.

Also, Happy Birthday goes out to Marcus, my little brother who did not buy cigarettes and porn on his eighteenth birthday. Oh well, there are more birthdays up ahead.

And finally, I'm headed for Utah in the morning so I'm not sure if I'll be able to update in the next couple of days. Catch ya later Oregon.

Sick Day Part 2

I'm lame and updating late for yesterday. True to my word it was sick dia numero dos, which means another lovely picture of my kitty cat.

Stick around for today's post.

Sometimes, I really want to take a picture with my phone.
But that's what you get for jumping when high-fiveing.

Sick Day Part 1

I know, I didn't post a picture yesterday, but in my defense I have been really sick. Last night Mary came over and brought with her some Nyquil. It was pretty much lights out for me after that. This is how I spent my day though. On the couch and hanging out with the cats in between naps.

Today is sick day number two so expect another thrilling picture involving soup, cats and blankets.

I started a new book today.
